Frequently Asked Questions
Where does your meat come from?
We source our young animals from local ranches and farms in and around Northeast Arkansas. They are all grass fed then grain finished at our farm to ensure that they have the highest quality care and nutrition.
Are your cattle grass-fed?
Yes! Our Cattle are on a 100% Vegetarian diet. They are introduced to a diet of grass and local hay prior to weaning. Later in life they are transitioned into all natural grain diet to get that high quality flavor our customers love so much!
What does “grain-finished” mean?
Grain-finished means that we complete the cattle’s diet by introducing our custom all natural 100% Vegetarian grain blend. This gives the meat a more tender and rich flavor, as well as increasing the amount of "marbling" which is actually Intramuscular Fat and gives you the best eating experience. Rest assured our ranches only use high-quality grains. This helps keep cattle healthy and happy and makes the meat more delicious!
How long is your product aged?
To get the ultimate tenderness and richest flavor we dry age our meat for a minimum of 14-21 days before it is separated into everyone's favorite cuts.
What is dry aging?
We believe that dry aging is the best way to deliver the optimal eating experience. For dry-aging, whole sides of beef or primal cuts are hung in the open air at a temperature just above freezing and left to age for several weeks. Not only are the enzymes breaking down the muscle tissues during this time, but the meat is also slowly dehydrating. This concentrates the meat and changes the texture and flavor.
Why are your prices so low?
The meat packing industry has become monopolized by substantially foreign owned companies. This allows them to dictate the price that consumers pay and the proceeds that the cattle producers make for their hard work while a large portion of the profits get sent overseas. By buying locally grown and processed products you are using your hard earned money to support the people in your community that put in the many long hours to make sure the animals are cared for correctly. As an added benefit you end up with food that is fresher, healthier, and more flavorful than anything you would buy at the grocery store. Our goal is to deliver the best meat you've ever tasted directly to your door at, or below, what it would cost at your local grocery store.
Is your meat inspected?
Yes! USDA and BQA (Beef Quality Assurance) standards are adhered to throughout the process from birth to butcher.
How do I defrost my product?
We recommend 2 ways to defrost your Crowley's Ridge Meat Co. products.
Preferred Method: Remove your meat from the freezer 24 hours prior to cooking and place them in the refrigerator. This allows the meat to slowly defrost and retain all its freshness.
Quick Method: Fill a large bowl with cold water, place the meat in the water and submerge. The meat will be completely thawed in an hour or two, depending on the size and thickness. Just be sure to check the water every 30 minutes — if it becomes tepid, change it out.
How much freezer space do I need?
